KATHI PETERSEN
Director Of Public Relations
Kathi Petersen is an award-winning communications professional with 25 years of experience in public relations, marketing, writing and editing, advertising and promotion. Projects she has worked on range from overseeing publicity for the Asheville Film Festival, to serving as a newsletter editor for a multinational corporation, to writing feature articles for publications as diverse as MD News and Carolina Banker, to performing a communications audit for a national foundation. Clients have called on her to help orchestrate special events, develop activities to build community goodwill, and provide counsel in reputation management. As a certified communications consultant with NeighborWorks® America, she recently helped secure media coverage of an event to celebrate a community of volunteer-built homes for victims of Hurricane Katrina in southern Mississippi.
Kathi previously served as Director of Corporate Communications and Director of Community Relations & Creative Services for a healthcare organization of nearly 1,000 employees. She was Director of Advertising & Marketing for WLOS-TV, where she also produced a children’s TV show and the local Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. She is a graduate of Leadership Asheville and has a Bachelor’s degree in Communications Media/Media Advertising and a Master’s degree in Public Affairs. |
